The first ProTour race!

It has been officially announced that the BMC Racing Team has received an the only Wild Card invitation to compete in the Tour of Romandie

Though based in America, there is a prominent Swiss influence on the BMC Racing Team.  Consequently, the team is very pleased and honoured to have received this invitation.  “This will be our first ProTour race,” Gavin Chilcott said, “so we will be very motivated to perform well and learn a lot.”  When BMC became one of 15 Continental Professional Teams awarded a Wild Card Label, they had reason to hope that this, along with a strong early season campaign would ensure invitations to some of the toughest races on the European calendar.

Perfect race

When reached for comment on the Romandie invitation, John Lelangue said, “Romandie is a perfect race for us: it is a ProTour stage race which will have a very high level.”  After the team’s performance in the Tour of California, they can go to Romandie with high motivation.  “We are a American-Swiss team so our Swiss riders will be very motivated to show the jersey off to a home crowd, and the American racers will be interested in building on the successes from California.” Lelangue went on to say, “We don’t have final podium ambitions, but we will surely ride aggressively, show off the jersey and do our best to make our presence felt.”
