giro d'italia 2014

The 2014 edition of the Giro d'Italia is the BMC Racing Team's fifth appearance in Italy's greatest race and the season's first grand tour. Last year, Cadel Evans rode to a third-place finish for his fifth career podium result in a grand tour. In 2012, Marco Pinotti (Stage 21) and Taylor Phinney (Stage 1) each won stages and Phinney wore the "maglia rosa" leader's jersey for three days. In 2011, Martin Kohler wore the king of the mountains jersey after Stages 5 and 6. In the BMC Racing Team's first appearance in the Giro in 2010, Evans – as the reigning world road champion – won Stage 7 and enjoyed the race lead for one day on his way to capturing the points classification.
